3ds max 9 to Torque ( Student Question)

I have created to buildings in 3dmax simple walls and stairs ect, what is the best way to port from 3ds max to torque? can I texture in max as well and just port in the textures? Remember this is simple walls and steps ect..

For any structure you should use constructor, deled, quark etc... as this gives you instant collision.

If its a dts model with seperate collision mesh your trying to create, then yes texture etc in max.

If all the above is jargon, put it this way.. the towers in the stronghold mission where made with an editor like constructor etc... Kork was made with max,maya,lightwave etc.

Got it, np I can create floors and basic shapes in constructor and am used to Unreal 2004, in modeling in a game engine, just used to having the add and subtract section for simple shapes its driving me nuts but I am getting the hang of it.

Can Stair cases be modeled in max or do you suggest just sucking it up and doing it in constructor?
I am trying to get out two levels by a Oct 15th Deadline for GDC, we have alot of objects and programmers ready, but the level design aspect is kicking my tail and worried about running out of time..so any help is welcomed and of course your experience.


As for moving the objects, Lockers, Gun Cases, Guns, house hold items...we have some ppl using maya (newest version) and alot of students have max9 which we all have converters for the old max but noone has that hold version, is why I was asking about the coversion.

Currently my process is to bring objects into Milkshape 3d then into torque show tools and I assume I can texture it out from there...and of course its a .dts and I can zoom it into constructor.

Let me know if that sounds like the best plan of action....

You might look into the stairs plugin for constructor. Just search for it on the forums. I also believe you can trade Maya and Max using the FBX format. Not to sure on FBX, I would do some research on it.
