New Project Manager Tasks

by James Margaris · in General Discussion · 08/05/2002 (11:43 pm) · 6 replies

There are some new tasks in the Realm Wars project manager involving the backstory and character classes.

If you plan on working on these you must do two things:

#1: Sign up in the task manager.

#2: Mail your updates and proposals to me (jsm16@cornell.edu) rather than post them here.

----------

I will be working on finishing up the new magic doc shortly, and will be adding more tasks again soon.

How long should the total plot be? 2,000 words? 10,000? 100 words or less? :p

Or do you not have a preference?

It is better to smart small and then build based on feedback. So I would say a few paragraphs at first.

Okay, I sent off a working setup. Don't kill me for it, but I kinda made it about over 2,000 words. :p Just letting you know so you don't accidentally delete it (if you get loads of spam.)

Don't know it this is the right place to ask, but anyhow... ;)
Why isn't there a task for coding hand-2-hand/melee/... fights? Or making custom fighting animations for that?
I think that is one of the essential concepts of RW, isn't it?
Just wondering... :D

Stefan there will be that task, when Phil figures we are far enough along to do that.

I think the way I would like to approach that is come up with a good system idea and implement it with placeholder animations. (Animations that take very little time to make and are low quality) Then if we are satisfied that it works well get some real animations in there.

I think first we want to iron out the general interface and the magic stuff though.

I hate to turn this into another magic-melee design thread, but I think the melee talk was carried as far as innovation will warrant. It seems that everyone was up for the creation of a system like JK2's, with just our own moves. As for the magic system, I think we ironed out the details, but the final say just hasn't been decided yet. On that note, who's going to have the final say on what we use?
