I know when HL was big co-op became pretty big online, but does anybody play co-op games anymore and if not is it because the lack of co-op games in the industry as well as the lack of quality in the ones that are present?

Hl2 still has coop mods out, synergy is the name of a decently popular one. Also CSS has zombie mods where a small group of players tries to survive against lots of bot zombies. But other then that there's not much out there.

I like coop but more in the launcha mission and go style then do the single player story style. I used to like the old delta force games coop

360 has a crap load of Co-op games. Gears, PDZ, Crackdown, Chromehounds, most likely Halo 3 to name a few.

Ya I was trying to make the seperation of playing the single player with someone as opposed to just playing missions against bots. So for instance rainbow six terrorist hunt falls under the second category, where as halo 2 coop falls under the first one.

I'm not a big fan of doing single player campaigns with a buddy (maybe because the missions aren't specifically made for 2 or more people so it's not that exciting) I'm much more of a fan of the mission style coop.
I suppose if a game came out that was a fps multiplayer campaign specifically designed for 2 or more players I might enjoy that more

I don't think coop games will always be played because there's so many games that are fun multiplayer but because there's so many hardcore gamers out there some people can never have that much fun so they play coop with bots instead
