Trouble with visibility animation

I'm currently editing a scene in which two bipeds throw a frisbee back and forth. Technically they each have their own Prop1 object attached to their right hand, with a frisbee skinned to the prop. When one frisbee is thrown to the other biped (by switching it to World Coordinates), it turns invisible and returns to its owner at the moment it is caught. At that same moment the other biped's frisbee appears, attached to his right hand, and when he throws it the same thing happens.
Basically I've gotten the entire scene, including both bipeds, to export into a single DTS with embedded animation (no DSQ). The problem is that, even though I followed Torque's directions to put visibility keyframes on the frisbee meshes through the Track Editor (it works in 3DS Max) and checked "Enable Visibility Animation" in the Sequence object's Export Control parameters, when I load the DTS in Showtool the objects do not change their visibility.
What am I doing wrong?
P.S. I'm using the older Torque DTS Exporter, listed as Version 0.900r-beta (dts v1.24), since I've had all kinds of problems with the newer exporters...and anyway this one corresponds with Torque's online readme files.
