Dazed and Confused about the Torque Versions

by Andre Prior · in Torque Game Builder · 07/09/2007 (2:45 am) · 4 replies

Hope somebody can help me.

I own Torque Game Builder (TGB) now I found that I can download Torque X Builder (TXB) for free. As I understand, the TXB is a set of tools can help the game creation within TGB.

Now I found the Platform Kit for Torque X. Since the Tools I downloaded called TXB in combination with TGB, does it mean that I can use the Platform Kit with my TGB / TXB? is TXB needed to operate with the Kit?!

Help!!

Thanks :D

No, TGB and TorqueX/TorqueX Builder are two fundamentally different products that happen to have two similarities:

A) They have a very similar GUI Interface for the level builder.
B) TorqueX Builder can import scenes (but not TorqueScript) from a TGB project.

They are not meant to be used together, and it's simply a "good deal" that TGB owners also get TorqueX.

Finally, the Platformer Starter Kit only works for TorqueX, and has nothing to do with TGB.

So I get Torque X for free and then I can use teh Platformer SK with Torque X and the TXB.
Does Torque X only produce Xbox360 games or can I publish my created game for windows
aswell?

You can publish your Windows games, in fact right now that is all you are allowed to sell. You cannot sell 360 games (yet). You can make and test your games on the 360 with the Creator's Club membership from Microsoft.

And yes the Platformer Kit is for TorqueX and TXB.

Thanks a million!

Can we expect tutorials regarding the Platform kit?
