IDEA: Torque and a book!

I spend at least $50.00 on Andre LaMothe and other game development books that teach very, very little.
Wouldn't it be cool to get a HOW TO PROGRAM GAMES BOOK with Torque (which now comes with a compiler) for $125 or more?
I bet there is someone on this site that could write such a book. Maybe a few of you! And the exposure that Torque and Garage Games would get for a book in Barnes and Nobles that teaches how a REAL game engine is created would be an instant hit in my opinion.
ANYONE AGREE?

I was planning on buying the SDK this week, but when I saw that, I held off till I figured out if that came with the full SDK and license (which I doubt, since the book is only $40).

I read about this on the WWII Online forums (Cerdip plays that too, I guess) and he said it came with the Torque Engine. My question is does it come with the full engine (the indie license version) or does it come with a dumbed-down or demo version?I was planning on buying the SDK this week, but when I saw that, I held off till I figured out if that came with the full SDK and license (which I doubt, since the book is only $40).

Another book I found interesting and uses Realm Wars is "2D ARTWORK AND 3D MODELING FOR GAME ARTST". Both of these books will help you start out with the Torque Engine.
@Joe: Same here about the hardcopy. I only get to read during breaks and lunch at work. After I put my daughters to bed at 9pm do I get to work on my project or test things. I don't have much time at night because my day starts at 3:30 am.
Anyways...both books are a great resource for beginners and a good reference. And yes you will have to pay $100 for the Torque SDK. That is really a small amount compared to other engines. Do the research and you will find out real fast how good of a deal Torque is.

It does not come with the source code of the engine. He talks about it in the book. It still will cost you $100 for the Torque SDK. I highly suggest you get this book as well as Torque SDK. It will help you out alot on getting started with Torque.Another book I found interesting and uses Realm Wars is "2D ARTWORK AND 3D MODELING FOR GAME ARTST". Bought it. WOW. This this worth every penny!

Definitely worth the $35, especially if you're new to Torque.

Mine arrived today, and although I've only read the first two chapters, it seems like an excellent buy. My Torque scripting is coming along well, so a lot of this book is redundant, but it goes into some detail about things I didn't know. Definitely worth the $35, especially if you're new to Torque.

3D Programming All in One, Chapter 3, Page 106:
the object's instance ID is 1359 for the pyramid...
In step 8 and 9 it says to type 1353(ID for sky)which is not the pyramid. Needs to be changed to 1359 and it will move the pyramid fine.
Chapter 3, Page 109:
"10. Type the following into the console:
MoveShape(%tt,50);"
in the console you will get an unable.... error
should be...
"10. Type the following into the console:
MoveShape($tt,50);"
then it moves the heart the right way

I prefer hoardcopies to online documentation. I hope the Torque Docs advertised on the Torque page comes out soon as well.
