Nvidia 6150 Compatibility, and Windows Vista

by David Jauregui · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 06/12/2007 (8:35 am) · 3 replies

I have a windows Vista home premium laptop, with an integrated Nvidia 6150. However I have not been able to successfully run anything I have compiled or the demo, or the precompiled binary on the laptop. I normally get a D3D error.
My questions are two fold:
Will an Nvidia 6150 run TGEA?
Is TGEA really compatible with Vista (i.e. has anyone had success using vista-in any of its flavors) ?

Hi, yes, it has been run on vista, there has been a few posts talking about various problems of vista
First you should check that you have the newest drivers from nvidias site preferably.
Ofcourse i cannot wouch for that specific card, but if its a new computer, my guess is that it should work.

Ive tried it on a vista ultimate, with an ati x800
It had certain hickups at first, but then ran ok, with the exception of the sidebar that flashes through.

TGEA is completely compatible with Vista - I am running Vista Home Premium on an nvidia G8800GTX without any problems. Only thing I needed to do was recompile the distribution binary and all works fine.

Just make sure you are using the latest nvidia drivers (they release them like candy lately), get April 2007 SDK and recompile TGEA :)

The 6150 will ahve serious problems with TGEA. It is a onboard office + video watching card, no gaming card ... it plays in the same performance sector as Intel X3100 (GMA950 successor) and AMDs pendant.

They won't give you much if you were planning to develop with TGEA ... at best they are able to play the games ... they do not have enough shader units for a full shader engine as TGEA ... they are still built around fixed pipeline + shader addition (DX9 standard)
same goes for the HD2000 by AMD
