Fatal-ISV launching TGEA demo

Hi,
When I try to launch the TGEA demo on the 32-bit version of Vista running DirectX 10 and the latest drivers for my GeForce 6800 I get this error...
Fatal-ISV: (\projects\tgeaClean\engine\gfx\D3D\gfxD3DDevice.cpp @ 1878)
D3DX Failed to load all functions. May need a more recent version of DirectX.
Hmm ... well I thought maybe there was a newer version of DirectX 10, no go. Then I heard about DX9 L and thought that might resolve my issues. That doesn't seem to have been released yet either. Is this happening because I'm using non DX10 compliant hardware? I thought DX10 was backwards compatible anyway.

It's been too quiet around here as of late, and that worries me.
If I could get an official response on this I would surely appreciate it.
Thanks.

Yeah, it's disappointing to say the least. I was really looking forward to buying a license, but I can't justify spending the money if it doesn't work on Vista. I know TGEA is supposed to be for advanced users, but I would at least hope the demo works out of the box. I've done a number of things to try to get it to run including updating all my drivers and running in various compatibility modes. If I'm over-looking something here please tell me I'm stupid. It's been too quiet around here as of late, and that worries me.

dx 9.0c. My other computer with the same setup and with ATI card works without any problems. It can be one of the shaders maybe?
But I'd like to hear some answer to that too.

It's not a Vista problem. I got the same message on the XP Professional sp.2 with nVidia FX5700,dx 9.0c. My other computer with the same setup and with ATI card works without any problems. It can be one of the shaders maybe?

Hey!!! That's it. Thanks a lot. It's a real mistery why normal Dx9 installer won't update to the latest version.

Now I've got fullscreen issues. The desktop seems to be bleeding through the app and glitching out the pointer. Any suggestions?

You forgot to call me a noob. Thanks Cappaucino, it worked for me too. I guess I was confused because I was specifically looking for a DirectX 10 update, but this touts itself as an update for 9.0c. Furthermore, it was never offered in automatic updates, which seems odd to me. Am I running 2 versions of DX? This whole Vista/DX10 thing seems like a huge mess to me. Now I've got fullscreen issues. The desktop seems to be bleeding through the app and glitching out the pointer. Any suggestions?

and they are as far as i know
1.- DX 9c when theres no DX10 compatible card and not so new cards.. like shader model 2 card
2.- DX9 EX( that was the L version).. with newer cards like shader model 3 cards.. this one is the used by the translucent aero visual interface
3.- and D3D 10 which is dx10 when a compatible dx10 card is installed.. this one will only be activated when a nvidia geforce series 8 .. like a 8800 or an ati radeon hd series 2000 like an 2900 is installed
