I have a site made but I need a host for it. I need one that can let me do forums, downloads, live chat, etc...
It must be affordable. Around $15 a month. I don't wanna pay $50 for premade forums on my site, I will script so I will have forums. I jst need a site thats affordable. Also, it must be ad free as I am going to make people pay for ads. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It also must be able to have logins on the site. So, please tell me some...

Try yahoo web hosting.

It's around $12 a month for one of the packages.

Yeh, but, you can only have 25,000 web pages which means if yu have login access, you can only have 25,000 memebrs right? Or does that mean over all web pages but as many memebrs of your site as you want? I am only asking becuase if I ever do make a "big hit", I will run out of member space and then everyone will leave becuase it is full.

ixwebhosting has a plan for only $3.95 a month. It has everything you are looking for. I've been using them for around 6 years without a problem.

If you are having forums then you will want PHP or ASP and some sort of database access with the account. I use this: http://www.uk2.co.uk/web_hosting/ - It seems good enough for me, plus they did all the domain regristration for me as well.

As members go, each new member does not create a new "page", its all records in a database, you can get free bulletin board systems online, they are simple to setup, things like PHPBB2.

For nice cheap hosting with plenty of bandwidth and diskspace, it's hard to beat dreamhost. Of course, cheap hosting isn't without its problems, the old "you get what you pay for" certainly applies to webhosting, so expect occasional downtime and occasionally slower site access due to the nature of shared hosting packages.

Imo though, they're a nice cheap hosting solution that so far has been more reliable for me than many hosts that I paid a 4-5x as much for, I've no plans to move hosts unless something drastically changes.

If you or anyone else signs up, you can use "FIGMENTGAMES" as a promo code on signup to get a little money off (and get me a referal amount too ;)

That said, if you're planning a business critical website I'd look for a dedicated host, several people have recommend Liquidweb.com in the past, but expect to pay a premium for the extra reliability.

As Gary said, shared hosting has its drawbacks. That being said, I have 7 domains with GoDaddy and 4 with ixwebhosting, and would recommend either.

I've heard occasional negative comments about both, but for me GoDaddy has had excellent support and has a 'fair' control panel with a one click install of SMF forums. You can choose either Windows or Linux hosting for the same low price, but I'd recommend Linux. ixwebhosting has both excellent support and a great control panel.

I've been with GoDaddy for 4 years and ixwebhosting for 2, and have no complaints about either. One of my GoDaddy shared hosting sites has 300+ forum users and I haven't had any complaints about access or speed, and another is a full storefront with a couple hundred items.

Just another opinion...

Not much to add to what Terry said. I use IX and GoDaddy too, IX for three years, GoDaddy for two. Both are cheap, stable, and friendly (interface, not support staff, though that too).
