Just wanted to add in my side of things so far.

I understand that GG wants to protect their product with derivative works. As I would do the same if I had the ownership of the Engines here. And following the EULA is what people agree to when using the products. Aka, thats why I pulled the resale out after realizing that. Which is reasonable..

And so far they have been very helpful with the Vkit and are taking a look at it for sale here online. So that would really be better for Enchanted Realms LLC, Garage Games and the users in the long run. Because they and us would want to make sure that the VKIT is stable and a great product. I know I have put a lot of hard work into it. But it may still need to be reviewed and reworked if necessary so it is great all around in the end.

So hopefully we will come to mutual agreement either way so it will be available here or on my site soon.

Well, just when I had my hopes up. Please don't take offense to this Stephen Zepp or any other GG employee, but your statement and I quote, "and provide the best value to our customers.", just doesn't sit well when it comes to the RTS kit.

To me it seems like you have abandoned this kit. The kit is no longer "officially" supported by GG. If it was, it would be on the Product Support list. It seems, at least to me, that you are intentionally deceiving people by not even stating that on the RTS kit Product page. I have actually called GG and been told that the RTS kit is no longer supported last year when I called and asked about why there was no integration for TGE 1.5. I was actually a little upset considering I had just purchased the commercial version of the kit a few months before and would not have purchased it if I had known it was no longer supported.

I'm sorry if I seem offensive or antagonistic in these statements, but in this area, I think GG has brought it on themselves. I think Rigo Cisneros should be allowed to sell his "enhancments" to the kit, or at least have GG add them to the kit and pay him for his work. It's just my opinion of course, but considering we get no updates from GG, I have no problems paying someone else for them.

Edit: I just wanted to add that it is good that GG is working with Rigo Cisneros on this and hopefully we'll actually get an update for the RTS kit out of this. I just hope you folks at GG know that there are still people here that still use this kit and we have been ignored for long enough. This kit needs an update or just take it off the "for sale" list.

I prefer the Update option. Just my 2 cents. Trying to intergrate 1.5.2 with the RTS kit and running into problems. I recently purchased the product and would like to see it updated to work with the current technology. When looking into the kit I was told it needed to be modded for TGEA but that it worked with 1.5.2 technology. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work, still working at it and hope to see some kind of updates for the product.

In the other hand, its that right? the kit its no longer supported? can some employee confirm that? Maybe someone can answer this on the thread I mentioned above, so we dont change the topic of this Rigo's post.

Just an update...

GG is still reviewing the Vkit (hopefully), though I haven't heard back from them just yet sent them an email a week ago. So the Vkit is still on hold from sales for now..

I am thinking of reworking the Vkit so it is just a plugin or opensourcing it like PG.(see below) Since they have such an awesome kit.

Also I am thinking of helping port their code into the RTS kit. Which would really be awesome since they have so much available. Plus my RTS code would be a cool combo for you guys.

Wonderfull news Rigo, thats the kind of reaction we need!
I hope you really consider the free-release, so maybe we can work on differerent areas to create a more complex solution (Im working on pathfinding and steering for example)

On the other hand your idea of help the PG boys to port the MMOKit to rts its just fantastic. You are an hyperkinetic man or something? ;D

Anyway, for any ideas or announcements, just say it on our new blog ;)

Great to hear Rigo. The project I have in the works would be great if built off of this. I can't wait to see it released in some form.

I have just purchased the RTS kit after being adviced to ignore the bad reviews. and actually this threads title on google (which didnt allow me to read without having the licence) made me even more excited to buy the RTS kit.

Now I am a RTS kit owner and can read this thread and it feels like someone out there has answered my prayers. This bit of kit sounds perfect for my needs. what help do you currently need in getting this to completion?

We had some big set backs recently with a lot of personal things happening. But getting back into the saddle and working like a locomotive. Morgan the Dwarf is having some final touches sorted out, and then he will be ready for the world.

Hey Anthony,

I haven't responded yet to your email (I did get that), but just wanted to give an update here on the VKIT. I am going to be releasing the work I have done via my private website/ Forums. So theres a few options to benefit from my work/services.

In a nutshell, if you sign up for a Membership (Developer) you will get full access to the VKIT Script, Source Code Changes via a Patch, (not the full GG source of course to stay in License) 3D models, and support. Along with any changes or new releases that our company does every month.

So hopefully everyone will find this reasonable on the rates and also if anyone needs other support options for the RTS Kit / Torque Projects / ... etc, I am providing Service for that too. This is all in an effort to raise money to fund work on the VKIT / and Enchanted Realms Games.

Also as a side note any member that purchases the membership for at least one month and provides a needed future feature (3D model(s), Code, etc. + granting resale rights to ERLLC) will be granted Free Lifetime Access thereafter.

I have to say, that is a great revenue model to help development. Also helps encourage people who are actually signing on to help, rather than getting just a sneak peak at the code.

FlameGuard, right now now one knows. Garage Games has shut down Rigo Cisneros ability to sell this at the moment. We're hoping that Garage Games takes notice and actually does something with the RTS Kit now.

Just to be clear--we as a company have not "shut down the ability to sell this at the moment"--we simply have not (yet) approved it to be sold--big difference, even though it may not sound like one.

The EULA specifically forbids derivative products, and as it stands, this kit stretches pretty far over the line of "value add" into "competing product", and also crosses a lot of other difficult to support lines (it includes stock TGE 1.5.2, the RTS-SK pack, and the AFX kit, as well as MySQL integration--all of which sound great from the customer's perspective, but are a legal Gordian knot when it comes to contracting and copyright.

Being quite open and honest with everyone, it's still up in the air regarding what and when we will make a decision, but it's not a matter of "GG doesn't care", it's a matter of "GG has one team responsible for 3rd party contracting, with a ton of things on their plate right now of incredible importance".

Ok, to make life a little easier for both me and GG ( and a little bit tougher on the users for now). And I believe to "fit" into the License agreement in a legit way. And hopefully be more of a "value add" ed component/plugin. I am thinking on releasing a serious of sections or Components of my changes.

For the Sticky legal ones...aka TGE1.5.2/RTS/AFX Merge / Changes I will most likely post a Resource on the appropriate forums here that way those pieces are free and community available (Though most of the Merges are already up here). Also I will attempt to make these as simple to implement as possible.

Next I will simply Release a single C++ Source Patch + Script Code as the Real "VKIT" Which will only update the Stock 1.0 RTS Kit. This should contain the majority of features of "RTS/RPG Features" listed above.

I will release the BETA version again shortly.

And I will post (in appropriate forums) on how to integrate the VKIT into your base TGE 1.5.2/AFX Source..etc.

@Stephen - let me know if that would better fit? That ways its only tied to the RTS Kit.

Also the MySQL should not be an issue because that is using ODBC and in future releases of the VKIT that will be using Sqlite, Text, or whatver backend DB desired.

So there you have it a Mod to the Base RTS Kit to give you most of the Enhanced features. Available to Members (Pricing) or if GG approves that then it will be available here hopefully soon (of course after BETA/testing).
