Intel Laptop Gaming TDK

by Christian Arellano · in Torque Game Engine · 05/02/2007 (8:52 am) · 5 replies

Hello. I was reading through the Intel Game Contest FAQ and came across this:

Quote:Torque Game Engine has integrated the Intel Laptop Gaming TDK, making it natural for games built with Torque Game Engine to compete in the Best Game on the Go category.

However, after doing a search on "laptop tdk", I wasn't able to find anything. Perhaps someone could elaborate on this matter? Thank you so much in advance :D

Quick search for "Intel Laptop Gaming TDK"

Quote:The Laptop Gaming TDK is a tool kit that any developer can download for free, and use in your applications to check on the state of a laptop - things like "am I plugged in?", "how much battery is left?", "what's the wireless signal strength?"

Once you know about those things, you can make your game more "laptop friendly", by providing warnings to the player that their battery is about to die, or dynamically scaling things like the detail level or other aspects of the game to maximize battery life when playing unplugged.

EDIT: softwarecommunity.intel.com/articles/eng/1017.htm is the main tdk url.

Hi Joseph. Thanks for the reply. What I meant to ask about was the supposed inclusion of the Laptop TDK in the Torque Game Engine, as suggested in the FAQ:
Quote:Torque Game Engine has integrated the Intel Laptop Gaming TDK
I find it strange that no mention of it is made over here in GarageGames, or in the TGE documentation itself. Is there documentation for this on the site? Thanks again :D
