Many Horse packs, none on GG

by Edward · in Torque Game Engine · 04/24/2007 (5:00 pm) · 16 replies

Afternoon, I have found 3 different horse packs, all of which on other sites, but none of which have a credit card option. Now Horses arent a huge issue, but i would consider it a basic in alot of games. Id like to see GG get in a Horse pack for its customers. I think that rather then paypal and money order option for alot of these sites. They need to open the door to credit card holders.

Now i realize that not having paypal, or willing to wait for the money order to go through ( of which might take several days from there i amjust to get where its going, as i live out here in the boonies of canada) might seem like a moan and whine, but i feel very uncomfortable with paypal, i had to ask a friend of friend of mine who had a pay pal account to make my MMOKIT purchase. (of whom i dont see very often).

So can we get some love for the credit card guys on these other sites or get some more pack material in in GG site. I see lots of games. I understand there is a cloth pack coming, and a few others have been hinted. But some i see as a ones that will be popular.

You can pay by credit card through paypal.

My reason for notusing paypal, is a bad prior experience. I dont feel like having my bank or credit card frozen for months while they get it all figured out again. It was a fraud, butit took them 3 months to unfreeze my account. Burnt one, twice shy

If people want to sell their packs on GG, they have to come to us...we don't go out and ask (much, anyway!).

Well, Robert Brower asked GG to sell his horse pack, but for some reason that I am not aware of they didn't want to... so now you can get it on www.3d-diggers.de, it's just too good to rot on some hard drive and Robert, Danny and Eric have put way to much work into it ... and as Jaimi said, you can pay via Credit Card through PayPal, too... getting a real credit card payment integrated into the shop is too expensive for us, that just wouldn't be worth it, sorry... where did you find the other (Torque ready?) horse packs btw.?

Www.mydreamrpg.com sells one, your company does, and http://www.arteria-gaming.com are 3 companyies i would love to purchase from, but as i mentioned its something i woul dlove to buy from all of the companies. Each of you have items i would like to get but have to wait for it tocome availablein a more convienent form. and if your curious about my devotion to torque..

all 3 sites have no credit card option, as i stated above i had to ask for my friends friend at the last minute to get it, becuase of the sudden nature of the mmokit being taken off the market. There are several items even from your site that i would love to get but sadly its not a option for me as i dont see themvery often (i live in arborg canada, so i dont see my friends very often).

I have made purchases from www.3drt.com as well, they have a credit card option, so i have 4 of their packs already and counting.

@Stefan: Check out Plimus.com. Credit card transactions for 0.75 US$ without any further costs! It really rocks and is stable. Might be an option for you guys!

Lol, i wanted to open some of the eyes of people, that we are looking for more options. I know im not the only one with this issue. I mean, it seems alot of folks are not even offering the credit card option, becuase it cuts into profits. If the sales are that bad that a site cant support 1 of the most common and has built in online fraud protection for the customer, i would be concerned. (and yes i have complained when associates advertise on other sites.)

@ Stefan, im not knocking diggers, becuase i have been eyeing a handful of your packs.
Dont get me wrong i understand paypal has gotten better. But they arent getting a dime of my business, which in turn hurts everyone. Its not that i dont want to spend. Its like walking into Tim Hortons and them not having a interact/ debit option during certain hours. that i understand, Business is business, but they push over a customer a second and can afford not to have the card option. in fact they make more money per hour that way becuase it slows down the transaction speed, in this, case howmany do you need to sell before spending x ammount to make x amount of profit. after the first 50 for 40Euros (80US, or like 90 canadian). Price aside, there are items i still would like to get, but its not convient for me, the customer.

@Tim hehe, it should, be afraid be very afraid. put out more material.

@andy, yah there are a few good ones, one of which is your skele, which i commented on becuase im going to be using it in my current project. anything in the pipeline?

@Edward: sure, I see your point! There are other payment services we could integrate into our shop, like www.clickandbuy.com/US/en/... but we just don't know if people would trust those more than Paypal.
And if we'd integrate "direct" credit card payment into the shop, we'd probably have to update the server to make it more secure because we'd have to store all the critical data ourselves... we'd have to get SSL certificates, configure the server for it, etc. - a lot of work and a lot of responsibility, and a lot of additional costs ... and I bet a lot of people then would say: "I dont give any credit card information to a website in Germany" or something like that. Are there any other options / services you would accept for payment?
@Martin: thanks for the tip.... would be nice if we could integrate the payment into the shop though :(

Stefan: They offer nice methods of integrating your own shop into this. Even own designed templates are possible, sending serials out, handling full-version downloads after the customer bought something etc. Real nice stuff. Drop me a mail if you need more info on this. :-)

Np, thanks for taken the time to consider us the customers, im sure im not the only one as i said with this issue. Im hoping some of the other site associates have seen this post and can maybe take the shot at making the option there. , and if people knew what happened to their credit card info inthe first place , Germany would be the last of their worries. I mean if they use a credit car through paypal, thats a 3rd party credit card user, noone seems to care about their security. Btu any way, this isnt a rant, never was meant to be. Just wanted to see more options either on other Torque sites or see more items being shared with GG for us the customers sowe can get access to them. Play nice folks.

@stephan, well there isnt many other options, creditcar, paypal, moneyorder, seems to be the only 3 that are available.. that are secure. if there is other. Wire transfer is expensive vs cost considering the nearest wire transfer place is like a hour away. Im willing to take suggestions. but Paypal is pretty much out of the question.

@Stefan

Something that could use some tweaking in the order process is when viewing the site in English and paying via PayPal the PayPal log-in screen you're taken to is in German. Afterward the language settings kick in for PayPal. Not that big of a deal really, at least for me, it was pretty obvious what button needed clicking, but may be something you'll want to look into in the future.

Stefan: I use PayPal for a product I sell on my web site. For customers who don't like PayPal, I keep an alternative page with Google Checkout "buy now" buttons. Google Checkout was easy to sign up for. I haven't integrated it with the backend (so I only give the link to customers who complain about paypal, and fulfill orders manually) but it's an easy answer to the anti-PayPal crowd. By the way, I bought the horse pack. Glad to see Robert's work finally available.

Edward: some credit card companies offer single-use credit card numbers for online purchases. Perfect for PayPal, because there's no risk of locking up your card. Also, cash-based debit cards commonly available at convenience stores (in the US at least) can also be used with PayPal at no risk to your bank account.

The second option is intersting, sadly, i live in arborg canada, and i have never seen the second option you are mentioning. I know they exist in the states. But the nearest town with anything remotely like that is in winnipeg. Ill make some inquiries. However, your first option sounds more reasonable, as it give you control over the product page. Being where i am sucks when if comes to the new fangled items. Like the refillable cash debit cards.
