Will the linux code be included to? Or is that property of loki? I mean will we be able to make a game and work on the linux port as we are working?

I can't wait!!! This is better than about a dozen christmases all at once!

The Linux platform layer will probably not be in this first release but will be available in future updates. We are still in the process of determining how much of the code belongs to Loki. As soon as we know we will release the Linux platform layer.

What about the Linux Server code? Is that also posibly owned by Loki?

The server stuff belongs to us. I do not think I will have time to get the Linux server up and running by the first code drop to you guys but I should have it by the first update.

Wow - imagine buying a CD with the Windows and Linux source code to the V12 engine AND the servers! Include exporters for the major 3d editors, such as 3D Studio Max, Truespace and Milkshape (this is for indie developers) and you have an incredible deal. Definitely worth the money!

A lot has changed since this thread started. Our associate Ryan Parker has ported the V12 to Linux and OpenBSD ...well just the server so far, but he's making great progress on the clients.

Trueshape and Milkshape will hopefully become community projects after this first release. Just imagine... when we have a couple thousand people working together on this it is going to be hard to keep up with all the incredible changes!

Of course! I'm chomping at the bit, although seeing as Im new to 3d programming, it will be a loooooooong learning curve.

It's a long way to a complete game from a dream of a multi-user game running a server on Linux and the clients on Windows!

you shouldnt have too many worries seeing as though V12 runs under linux, win32 and Mac.
Hopefully it will run cross platform fairly well.

If we will have community projects, should we have community CVS or some sort ? probably make the update job much easier.
