Hello!
Just wanted to introduce myself here, so... hi!
My name's Tom and I'm tired of not making games. I work in the game industry as a QA Analyst so I get to see a lot of games in development, as well as work with the people associated, but have no technical skills of my own. I'm an artist in my own right in that I mostly draw comics in my spare time but there's nothing I would love more than to design my very own video game.
I've since picked up a book to teach me the basics of C/C++ programming and 3D graphic design. I understand I have something of a long road ahead of me but the prize at the end is more than enough to keep me going.
While I've never programmed a game in my life, I have spent my more youthful years creating card games and board games, or "enhancing" existing ones. For a while I toyed around with RPG Maker, seeing how far I could take it, but ultimately I'd rather be able to do it all myself. The book I have that's teaching me C/C++ also provides the demo version of Torque which looks like it has many exciting qualities.
Anyway, you may or may not see me float around these forums, but I don't doubt I'll need help at some point. Likewise, if I can, I'll try to provide whatever help I can to others...
Cheers!
