Blame it on the videogames

"Virginia Tech mass murderer Cho Seung Hui honed his skill as a deadly marksman by playing violent video games.
According to Washington Post Staff Writer David Cho, several Korean youths who knew Cho Seung Hui from his high school days said he was a fan of violent video games, particularly a game called "Counterstrike," a hugely popular online game in which players join terrorism or counterterrorism groups and try to shoot each other using all types of guns.
And playing these violent games can do more than help a player improve his skills, they can help transform him from a player to a killer, psychologists say."
When will it stop!?!?!?!?
"The Post noted that the authors recalled that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold enjoyed playing violent video games, and they speculated that these games played a role in their violent acts at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado in April of 1999.
Eric Harris had actually modified a version of the game Doom and placed it on his Website. In his version, there were two shooters, extra weapons, and the other people in the game couldn't shoot back. He and Klebold essentially acted-out their version of Doom on innocent classmates."

and a new study has proven with a 78.657% probability that Video Games are also the cause of Global warming.
and as well, food shortages in Africa.
And word has it that George Bush is a fan of video games.
and thus the war in Iraq.

What about STUPID games/movies, no one fears they will make people less intelligent?
If i play a computer game in what i can FLY, do i run the risk of jumping from buildings?
Where do books play a role in this odd type of logic?
If people do what they meditate on, i have seen strict Bible meditation people do/act worse then violent video game players, no logic i tell you...
People have been going on crazy killing spree long before computer games, TV, even GUNS were around to blame human behavior on.

This is such a farce, lol. I play violent video games so I do not kill people HAHAHA,
On a serious note, this is such a joke, first off the person would have psychopathic issues to begin with, and HONING YOU'RE SKILLS? Hahahaha How?
Real world gamer, turned killer: "ok I have my M16, now where is the damn mouse?"
It is just a good escape goat, for the old generation of non-gamers to point the finger and blame something, when they should stop that bullS**T and blame the bastard that did it for being psycho . . . . PERIOD.
I am sick of people crying about videogame violence. Hell there is more violence on TV, and kids cartoons lol, [sarcasm] Oh and Counterstrike, is SO real. . . . [end sarcasm]
My last words are: "Stop blaming other s**t, and blame the bastard who did it" Games had NOTHING to do with it PERIOD. The kid was laughed at and bugged everyday at school, the peer pressure is just sick in school's these days, he snapped due to that, not because he got out of bed and said "Time to play some Counter Strike, Humm what level should I play, oh yea I think I will play the school level" BAH stop all the nonsense.
With that said my heart does go out to the people of this tragedy and their families.
Take care

Honestly This crap has been happening for a very long time. Cris Rock has a great sketch about this saying What happend to crazy people? now there blameing it on games, movies and music. nobody ever hears about crazy kids anymore its all about people who are trained useing video games. what we should do is make bullets 1000$ for 1 that way when some one gets shot you know they deserved it....
anyway senceless violance is just that, they stated spacificly that he had mental issues, now there probly going to round up anyone that draws gothic art or writes gothic poatry up and send them to a mental instatution.....
when something like this happens and they blame games for it, it makes me wonder about the validity of the people with the degrees. those are the people who are covering there asses or being payed off.
i cant wait to see how much flack the WII catches from this bs with the controler being what it is.
honestly games do not hone your skills as a marksman i can honestly say this shooting a gun and clicking a mouse button or tapping a button is so diffrent i cannot even begen to start. for one your mouse does not kick nore does your keyboard. the little rumble you get from your controler is nothing compaired to the kick of a simi auto rifel or pistol. these people in the positions saying that games are honeing there skills have probly never even seen a gun up close let alone shot one, but that doesnt make much differnce there the ones with the degrees the ones that make the rules, next there going to be putting screen doors in submarines to keep them cool while diveing, eather way thats nonsence and so is blameing movies music and games for someones stupidity.
the people that died had no connection that the fbi could find stateing it was random, random for me states it was a mental instability, but then who am i to say one way or the other i make video games violent ones so im just covering my ass..... yah right wake up people.
anyway if you can stand to read it thank you if not sorry but im ticked so nodoubt it doesnt make much sence.

Game violence is at an all time high, isnt it great!! i mean come on where else can you see blood shoot like a friggen guiser from some one when you punch them ? Mortal Kombat, Counter strike, Paper Marrio(Come on batting a lizard in the back of the head so he will eat a bad mushroom or turtle not to mention jumping on peoples heads.) Honestly This crap has been happening for a very long time. I would hope no human is so much a puppet, they toss away moral guidelines and knowledge of right and wrong, just because someone else have control of there emotions.... We do live in a world where people are free to do stupid things, but blaming it on anything BUT that stupid human makes everyone else just as wrong.
We know how to hurt each other long before we know what computer games were.
04/19/2007 (1:44 pm)
Eric, are you saying other people have power over how you think, and feel? You let other people control your emotions, and make your decisions? I'm not saying to condemn video games, which I love to play. I'm just saying to keep an open mind.
04/19/2007 (1:52 pm)
Yeah, I never see threads like this when it's announced that video games help Doctors be faster and make fewer mistakes or as firefighter training and improving hand-eye coordination . Nope. In fact, the community probably praises them.I'm not saying to condemn video games, which I love to play. I'm just saying to keep an open mind.

seriously? have you not heard of the lemming effect?
People are Sheeple.
it is a FACT.
research the lemming effect, it is the reason we have been able to build civilization.

But blaming others for ones actions, or feelings is something children do.
Badguy; we are not lemming. We have logic and reason. No one but yourself MAKE you feel or think or act in any manor. If you believe other people control the way you think, feel or act you have issues. If you let other people have power over your emotions, then your a weak person to start with...

Yes, keep an open mind is something every adult should do.But blaming others for ones actions, or feelings is something children do.

you are delusional.
Human Are lemming. Period.
having your own logic and reason does not remove you from the lemming group.
Lemming have logic and reasoning as well.
this does not mean it is the best logic, or even correct reasoning.
but they do.
Just like the humans.
many humans have messed up logic. and even worse reasoning.
look at the cost of fuel rise, why?
did the cost of preparing it for market really go up that high?
then why is there so much room for massive profits?
it is the business side, with the investors always wanting More profit for the same product.
So the cost goes up, with the profits.
Clearly a case of flawed logic.
why are billions of people paying more for a service than they should be
so the rich can get richer?
how is that sound logic?
but you still fill your tank right?
of course, you need to get where you are going.
this topic continues into everything human.
we Are lemmings, albeit a little more advanced than the ones that come to mind.

Im talking about blaming our actions on ANYTHING but ourselves.
Humans are not Lemmings, and you can not use a small % of people that do not think and act for themselves as proof that we are Lemmings and act in the same way they do, thats way to simplistic an analogory for understanding human psychology.
Lemmings do not have the brain power to blame ANYTHING for the actions, they dont THINK, they just DO.
And your right, I am delusional but not in the way you may think!
04/19/2007 (3:00 pm)
Badguy; we are talking about blaming Video games and other outside influences on the actions of a few unstable people. You are talking about things that dont belong in this discussion, such as market values, class systems, and a few other things that are way to deep to have a rational desicusion about without previously spending 2+ years in a university learning about them. (If you did goto collage for such subjects i would love to continue such debate by email....)Im talking about blaming our actions on ANYTHING but ourselves.

Well, as you seem to be having a hard time getting beyond the topography of the conversation.
I can understand perhaps how you have a hard time associating the reality of it.
The fact that people are of lemming type behavior is proven everyday with bad decisions being accepted by the masses because of the need to feel a "part of" the group.
this is Classic behavior exhibited by most animals. and it has become known as the lemming effect.
the people blaming stuff on others and other things are merely band wagoners.
again part of the lemming effect.
but the cold hard reality is when society builds up acceptance of certain idea's people accept it.
All of this is tied directly to the very real lemming effect.
People blaming this shooting on anything but themselves.
and the perfect utopia that we live in.
when In reality this is a by product of our society. not Everyone is going to be happy about the design of the flawed system our society has created.
so while some people find it completely acceptable to continue living this life we have built.
while others are like "fuck it, this shit is busted anyhow" Blam Blam...
the people in his life and the society around him shaped and molded this person.
could have been one person in his life, could have been more who will know?
nobody.
when the people in society create a problem they tend to suppress it and pretend it does not exist.
This guy was a nut job, and everyone knew it. but there was no clear path to a solution so the people in his existence did not do enough to ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Clearly we cannot blame any single one thing.
I 100% agree with you there.
for example, I do not put the sole blame on this wacko.
I place the blame on the system that created him, and then stood by waiting for him to go off.
I place the blame on the people who poked and prodded the ticking time bomb.
and Then I add some of the remaining blame to the whack job.
