Caves and the such

I figure this is where it should go, dealing with the terrain. Im figuring up a canyon level, and the only part I cant figure out, is how to do caves that will be like, caves, I just cant figure how to set them up, any advice?

Make a cave as a dif, place it in your mission, and set the squares of the terrain blocking its entrance to be empty .. I dont exactly remember if its called clear, or set empty, or possibly even somethign different
