Linux demo won't start

I downloaded the linux demo and now I can't run it I tried to read the instructions but I couldn't understand them much. I tried pullind up a new shell and tiping in "chmod +x runscript.sh" a few times and it didn't work. I've heard that linux isn't supported anymore but can anyone help me please?
