How many polygon for a good weapon in 1st view?

Yeah, I want to have weapons looking good when I am in 1st view.
So how many max could be a weapon? 500? 1000?

The weapons arent any different in 1st and 3rd person. Typically we can handle render speeds by using LOD's.

For a weapon, 500-1000 is a reasonable budget. 700's or so is probably the best spot to aim at.

Basically, use as few as possible while still creating a good weapon.

Dont worry about the multi-res, we can get it done.
