Little Help Here, Please.

by Arjuna Crary · in Torque Game Engine · 07/02/2002 (2:53 pm) · 9 replies

I just downloaded the engine, and now I'm on to the makefiles part. I have WinXP, and some small experience with normal coding, and a lot of experience with the code from Tribes2. But I cannot seem to get anywhere with the makefiles. Can anyone please help me through this?

Thanks,
AJ

Which compiler are you trying to use? The makefiles/workspace for torque are specific to the compier.

Well, thats the other thing. I have none of those compilers listed, do I have to go out and buy one? Quick question, if I just bought the CD would I have to go through all the makefile stuff, just get directly at the engine?

Man, I thought I would be able to download the engine and start with what I was good at. Why do I have to go through so much to install this?

Youre really talking about modding the demo rather than compiling the engine.

If you want to do that, then just download the latest RW demo, thats the compiled "engine". Then run that exe in the \example directory and it should run the fps or racing or rw mods.

What I mean is, I want to make a game basically from scratch. . .or. . .I think I do. If what you say is true, then whats the whole makefiles bit?

Let me clarify. I downloaded the SDK files using CVS. And I need help with the compiler/makefiles bit.

Well thats the thing,
We can't help you unless we know what compiler you are using..

Are you using Visual Studio 6? Visual Studio .Net?
GCC? Codewarrior, or some other kind?

*laughs* Yea, this may sound stupid, but i only have CodeWarrior learning edition v2. I lost my old compilers.
