Auto-billboarding trouble in DI exporter...

I'm attempting to use the latest Dark Industries exporter (released 12.10.06) with Max 8 to export an object with 3 detail levels:

  • 0) A high-res mesh
  • 1) A lower-res mesh
  • 2) An auto-billboard

Since my last post I've realized that the DI exporter doesn't support the BB::detail node, so I've been attempting to export using the Billboard Manager in the exporter to do this. My settings are:

And so the "User Defined" properties in the detail node display this:

Yet no billboarding ever happens... in ShowTool, the billboard detail level shows no geometry. The dump reports that all three detail levels are in subtree 0, when I believe the billboard should be in subtree -1:

In ShowTool, the Shape Properties>Tree tab doesn't show the third detail as a billboard...

...and the Shape Properties>TSDump tab, indicates all detail meshes are in Subtree 0.

Is auto-billboarding currently broken in the DI Exporter?

Update: So word back from Dark Industries indicates that auto-billboarding isn't working in the DI exporter currently. With Joe Muscharek's help I realized that the Max2DTS exporter for Max 8 isn't allowing auto-billboarding either... or is at least crashing on export if the BB::detail node is present. However, the Max2DTS exporter for Max 5 seems to be actually exporting the auto-billboarding correctly from Max 5. Now I can auto-billboard like it's 2004! Progress! :\
