To All Utah Area Indie's,
Our next Utah Indie Games Night will be held on Thursday, April 26th, at 7 pm at the Ninja Bee offices in Orem. Thanks once again to Ninja Bee for hosting this event. Email me if you need directions to get there.
Again, format will be like last time, an informal get together to chat, eat pizza, talk about the industry, see what others are doing, show off your current project, etc. Please bring some cash to chip in for the pizza and munchies, if you can. Introductions will be kept brief, and if you have a demo to show please let me know (if you haven't already), so we can plan on it better.
The event is open to anyone with an interest in Indie Games, so feel free to pass the word along. The group has also started a website (wiki) at www.utahindiegames.org, but there's not much content there yet. Hopefully it will grow and be useful to the group.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Hope to see everyone there!

Greg, what about those (like myself) who need every bit of info. to learn TGE.I live in NY City and there is no possible way to attend. You guys should set up an "online Videos" for all TGE users to access all year round at a price. Can you imagine how many users will sign up for it?.....a lot.I am almost sure someone must have suggested the idea a while back or something...well!,it's a good idea and help all those starving "Indies" that wanna attend but couldn't due to circumstances beyond control.....

As always there was food, fun, and lots of good discussions about game development and marketing. There were also five demos shown
Jay and I put together some write ups about the event here at these links:

Also, for the first time, we had some moments captured on film (thanks to Eric Hamilton). You can see them at these links:

We had another fantastic Utah Indie Game Night this past Thursday! I counted 31 people in attendance, which was a pretty good turnout. As always there was food, fun, and lots of good discussions about game development and marketing. There were also five demos shown

Actually you're the first to suggest the idea. I like the idea, but there are some logistics that might prevent this from working well. First, being that much of what was happening was happening in smaller groups at the same time. For instance, all the demos were happening at the same time and people went from one group to the next. (kind of like an expo of sorts). Secondly, if people know they are being recorded, they might not be as candid in their discussions with one another. For example, we had some good discussions about portals and publishers at the event. If people were being recorded, the info may have been greatly "sanitized". I'll have to give your idea some more thought.
Also to clairfy, our group gets together to for the purpose of networking, showing off projects and getting feedback, and in general "fostering the indie spirit" amongst the group. We haven't had any workshops on learning TGE, or any other engine. We might do something like this in the future, but we haven't yet. Our group isn't focused on Torque; it's only focus is Indie Games in general. Of the five demos shown, only one of them was Torque based (TGE), the others were based on XNA or their own engine.
I know that groups like ours that exist in other parts of the nation. I know of groups in the Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, Pheonix, and (I believe) Austin areas. I would imagine that there are a lot of indies in the NY area, so it might pay to seek them out and start your own "Indie Group".
Good Luck to you!

Well that says it all.I thought it's all TGE stuff at these gatherings, make sense though with all these other alternatives of Engines...it's a small world.
Lot of Indies in NY?...or yeah,I am sure there are few somewhere.I need to look in to that and thanks again for the info. It will be nice to know how to form an Indie group the NY area?.Any suggestions will be appreciative.
