PNG problems.

by Matthew Jones · in Technical Issues · 06/29/2002 (10:07 pm) · 5 replies

I am trying to make fence texture with Paint Shop Pro 7.04. I followed Desmond Fletchers tutorial to the "T" and it still doesn't seem to want to work.
Is there somthing I need to do in the script or in the editor to get the thing appear transperant? I am at a loss.
Any help would be appriciated

I had the same problem. I'm not sure about that, but, if I'm right Paint Shop Pro 7.04 doesn't correctly export transparency in png
Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Maybe you can try an older version of PSP!

Is there any other Free utilities that allow for conversion to PNG that anybody knows works? My budget isn't going to allow me to go get Photoshop at the moment.

I'm pretty sure the Gimp does.

Here's a couple of suggestions:

Either use "save as" and hit "Options" or go to File-->Export-->png optimizer. Play around with the Transparency settings there.

Another option is to try the photo-shop plug-inn, which works in PSP as well, called SuperPNG. I understand this works better, though I haven't really tried it.

If the .png is for Milkshape, I do know you need to use the sliders to set the Xparency. If for Worldcraft/QuArK then Xparencies don't work for those yet anyway--the alpha channels are used for reflections.

Good luck!
