Preferred AGP graphics adapter for TGEA?
by Arthur Ogawa · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 03/30/2007 (3:21 am) · 4 replies
I am going to have to purchase a graphics adapter in order to successfully run TGEA, so I thought I would ask here for your thoughts. The computer has an AGP (not, unfortunately, PCIe) interface.
Thanks for your help!

I have a 7800 in one of my boxes with AGP. I'm pretty happy with the performance on it, and it's got PS3.0 which is good for testing the shaders. The 7600 is a heck of a lot cheaper, and has the same features though not as much horsepower. It's a good bag for your buck product and would let you test all the 3.0 shaders.

All of those cards should work out fine. I'm using an x800 at home, and that's more than powerful enough.

They actually have the Nvid 7950GT and Ati X1950XT AGP just recently released. Depends on your budget and future plans. There are some 6600 / 6800XT and X1500's for around $100 bucks on the low end.

There is also a Geforce 7600GT in AGP.
both cards would do the job quite well :-). And gives you Shader Model 3 :-).
And it sounds like there will be a 8000 series AGP Geforce card in April - if you can wait that long, and if they'll start selling then...
