One Button Publishing

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone picked up on a point mentioned in this interview with Jeff Tunnell regarding 'One Button Publishing'.

I read in another post somewhere (most probably a "when is Constructor being released" post) that GG are working on "many exciting new technologies". I can only assume that OBP is one of those technologies.

It may seem like a small thing, but in all honesty, I think this is even more exciting than something like Constructor! Don't get me wrong - I can't wait for Constructor to be released but OBP will dramatically improve the testing phase during development.

I'm the only programmer in a small team but sometimes I want to just check stuff that I can't check on my own, like network code, or simply want to update the rest of the team on how things are shaping up. Currently this means I create a new folder and move only the relevant files to it, then create an installer and finally FTP it up to a folder on our website. They then download, install and off we go.

If I understand this correctly, with OBP I make a change that I want the other guys to see, hit the magic OBP button and presumably this packages up the necessary files and uploads to your GreatGamesExperiment profile ready for the other team members (or external testers) to play.

Awesome stuff, and I can't wait to see it in action...
