Hey,
I'm kinda new at this. I'm going to buy 3ds max soon but for the mean time I have gmax and Milkshape (Milkshape dosent like me.). I was wondering if there's any scpirts or ways to convert a gmax file to DTS. Or if anyone has links to the scpirts or that can send them to me in any way plese respond. On a side note dose anyone have the import scpirt for gmax for .max's. Please respond
Thanks for the help

I doubt you will find many useful import scripts for .max files unless they are for really old versions of Max (I believe GMax is based of Max 4 or 5). From what I understand, .max files are not just a simple mesh format, but can include a huge amount of data, including script data.

GMax is completely and totally unsupported, and because of the limbo for companies to implement add-ons to it, is not likely to be supported. TurboSquid offers support for it, but Discreet still own the IP.I doubt you will find many useful import scripts for .max files unless they are for really old versions of Max (I believe GMax is based of Max 4 or 5). Just as a FYI to you super slueths who have apparently missed this, but with the Tempest (Quake 3) addon you can export BSP based geometry out to a MAP format (which can then be loaded in something like Quark, textured and exported for use in Torque).

That makes perfect sense. It seems like there was a Half-Life one as well.

If you like 3ds max you might want give LightRay3d a try. It has good price and an export for Torque. I used it for while now and I love it. I have exported players and static shapes with no problem. Make sure you try the demo to see if you like it.

I've found Milkshape to be enough for my needs, though. What kind of problems are you having with it?
