What am I missing?

This is my first work with Garage Games.
I purchased TGEA today.
I attempted to use the documentation link to get started, but it kept saying that I needed to log in, even though I had already logged in. (I searched this error and found that others have had the same problem, but there was no solution found yet).
I found instructions on the TDN that allowed installation, but Server 2003 SDK R1 was no longer supported and had to use R2. I had to separately compile the libraries under the VC8 directory to get the software to compile.
Now that I have a compiled engine, I do not know how to actually get it to run any of the advertised software. (I could run the the Terrain Water Demo and the "show" utility by modifying the shortcut - This caused an error with the other example folders).
There do not appear to be any stand alone editors.
From the advertisement, it appeared to be an advanced version of TGE, but seems to be just a few add ons.
