Searching these forums

How do I search in a specific forum?
I tried the search field at the top of this page, but I'm not even sure if I'm getting hits in these forums, looks more like a general google search.
Thanks

Its almost so completely worthless that its quicker for me to manually scroll through the forums, looking for what I need. And when my frustration meter is already in the red (because things don't work the way I think they should), that is an exercise in anger management to say the least.

I do searches all the time, and I eventually just say "screw it" ... when I search for things to help me with TGB, sometimes the first 10-20 results are TGE related and I get the lovely "You must own a copy of TGE to view this Resource" message ...
Very annoying, I don't deny that one bit ... GG could definitely spruce up the forums a bit ... a lot?
Best thing I can say is ... at least 'try' to find a previous post, and when you give up (at whatever stage of anger management that would be) ... post your question ... one thing the community does do, is respond quickly to questions ... sometimes they even go "Hey, read this thread" ... and point you to what you could not find, nice, eh?

@Kevin, theres a really good reason a lot of people ask the same questions .... cause it -IS- hard to find previous responses ... Yes, I agree that the user community here is awesome!

We just started using Sharepoint at the office and it comes with a respectable search engine (including scope and document type filters). If you don't have permission to a resource, it doesn't show it in the search results. And that is from Microsoft if you can believe it.Yes, I agree that the user community here is awesome!

"Torque Game Builder (TGB) Private Forums"
That'll pull out threads matching your search query but only from within the private tgb forums.
I have this bookmarked so the terms are all presetup and I just need to enter my specific search keyword. The advanced search options can also help narrow down a search.

Go to the search box, enter your search terms and hit enter. Then in the search page that appears, change the drop down from "All Documents" to "Forums" and add the following after your search terms (including the quotes!)"Torque Game Builder (TGB) Private Forums"

Even with using the above tips, I'm having a problem with the search function of these message boards. When I search, I get very few results from 2007. Most of the results are from 2005. So I looked at a post from Oct 31st, 2007 in General Discussion that is titled "Level structure and off camera position data" I did a search for "structure" and this thread doesn't show up in the results. I tried many examples with the same result. I have tried just searching for the word "the" and most of the results are from 2005 or earlier. I have set the drop down box to "forums" and I have search by date instead of search by relevance. This is very frustrating! Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

You're doing nothing wrong, it's simply not working -_-

Wow! That's even more frustrating! Thanks for letting me know. At least I won't pull my hair out anymore trying to get the search to work. Kind of makes the boards completely useless unless you read the boards every day to find new information.

I pretty much bookmark everything I think may be remotely useful to me. I have LOTS of bookmarks and read the forums daily.
