Modeling Help Please

Hi, I am a student at the University of New Mexico and I am taking a game design course this semester. I am a computer science student and while I am good at programming, I am horrible as an artist. I have been playing with trial versions of Maya and Milkshape and I am struggling with creating models.
For our class we need to create a game of our choice. We have chosen to do a game that is a mixture of Escape from NY, Falling Down, and the Lucas Arts game Full Throttle. The game is in a desert setting where the main character is a tough guy biker who is upset and wants to go kick some butt (don't want to bore you all with the details, if you want to know more of the story email me).
Basically, while my team is full of skilled programmers, we have no knowledge of modeling. We have spent the last couple of weeks trying to create our own models. We have tried even using Makehuman to create the obj files of humans, importing the objects into Maya and trying to convert it to something usable to Torque. We have come to the realization that we are not going to be able to generate models for our game in a timely manor. We have created a level to insert our objects into, but we are struggling to get models to put into it.
If anybody knows how to get the easily created character models from Makehuman correctly imported into Milkshape please let me know. It is really easy to create human models with the Makehuman softwware and I don't have the artistic ability nor the time to learn how to create any from scratch in Milkshape. The models that we got into Milkshape from Makehuman had holes in the polygons, and when we exported the animations into Torque, the animated character (once joints and motion had been added to the human model) came up looking realy really wierd. Wherever there was animation (we only did animation on one leg to test) the character was blurry and non-functionaly. I don't know if it's because the conversions got corrupted somehow and there are errors in the polygon set or what the problem could be.
If anybody out there has any models that would like to share with us for this non-commercial game I would greatly appreciate it. Any free models that could be provided would be nice. If we have to we will pay for some models, so please let me know what kind of assistance any of you can provide.
Thank you for reading this long winded post, and thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Considering the type of game you're making, you might do better with this model for your main guy . . .

Aaron, that guy looks like a good character: a little older like Snake Bliston, tought biker like Full Throttle, we're just gonna throw in the personality of the guy from Falling Down (we don't want Dilbert the game). Thanks for the link.

Yeah Wiley I'm afraid you're right, we're just going to have to dish out some cash. We understand how hard it is to create good models and that most people aren't willing to give them away. Though it doesn't hurt to ask.Aaron, that guy looks like a good character: a little older like Snake Bliston, tought biker like Full Throttle, we're just gonna throw in the personality of the guy from Falling Down (we don't want Dilbert the game). Also, if you are doing a game similar to Full Throttle, the ADAM PACK sounds like it may be something you can use. Yeah these aren't free, but considering the time and effort you are putting in, it may be worth it to purchase the models. Also you can get a variety of different looks by playing with the skins.
