Edit: Nevermind, I can't use VMware to run Torsion either because the project type isn't supported. I can open and edit a cs file, but not an entire project. Since that's the case I'm leaning towards using Smultron.
@Tom
I've been a Windows developer for the past 10 years and up until recently I would've never dreamed of porting any of my apps to Mac, so I feel your pain. But, I think with the growing popularity of the iPhone, more and more developers are starting to look into developing on Macs. And, as anti-mac as I was 6 months ago, I dare say "Once you go mac, you never go back." If this porting thing isn't working out so well, maybe you could consider starting Torsion from scratch for this Mac release. Smulton is an open source editor that supports TorqueScript, maybe building upon their source is an option?

Any news on this Mac version of Torsion? I just purchased a copy thinking it was available for Mac. I hate having to run VMware just so I can use Torsion.Edit: Nevermind, I can't use VMware to run Torsion either because the project type isn't supported. Just a thought....

How odd, just today I had the brilliant idea to use TGB on my Macbook while using Torsion on my PC and just interface them together....but I then realized that the Mac edition of TGB does not even create a .torsion file to import into Torsion as a project. Perhaps as a workaround for not having a mac version of Torsion available yet GG could just make the Mac version export a .torsion file in case people have a similar setup to my own, thereby allowing one to use their Mac for the builder and their PC for Torsion.Just a thought....

How is Torque's performance on Windows running in a Virtual machine?

No Torsion for Mac? What are the alternatives? I really don't want to use BootCamp. How is Torque's performance on Windows running in a Virtual machine?

Any progress on the Mac version? Any hope of it coming out in the next year?

Sickhead is hard at work on Torque 3D, so I doubt there is any work being done at the moment on a Mac Torsion. Maybe one of the SH guys can comment on if there ever will be one, I dunno. I would recommend running it either in bootcamp on on a virtual OS for the time being.

Bump, I know it redundant, but we can't help begging :)

BAH!!!!

2 years of begging from the Mac community (of which I'm a member). Forget it. If they were EVER serious about MacTorsion it would have been out by now. It's NEVER going to happen, they just won't admit it. Mac users aren't a large enough segment of game developers to focus on.BAH!!!!

Since you have to have a mac for deployment to iOS devices, it would be nice if all the tools worked on the same platform.
Hmmmm nearly two years since the last post...

+1 on needing a way to debug torquescript on a mac... especially for it2d...Since you have to have a mac for deployment to iOS devices, it would be nice if all the tools worked on the same platform.

At the moment GarageGames doesn't have a Mac person, so it will take some time for them to get around to converting Torsion, if they decide to do one.

For those that have a Windows machine as well though, you can always launch your game on the Mac and connect to that instance from the Windows using the connect feature of Torsion. Just put in the machine's IP that's running the game in place of the local host IP (127.0.0.1) in the connect dialog.
Note this also works for debugging scripts running on iOS devices as well. Launch your game on the device, connect to it from Torsion using the device's IP.

Just to clarify, Torsion is made by Sickhead not GarageGames. Even if we were to have a dedicated Mac guru in-house it would have no impact on whether a Mac version of Torsion is made. For those that have a Windows machine as well though, you can always launch your game on the Mac and connect to that instance from the Windows using the connect feature of Torsion. Developing for Mac is hell... i personally have an extreme distaste for it. Further the market for Torsion on a Mac is vocal, but small... it will not pay for the cost of development.
In the past others have offered to help develop it, but they all have flaked out on us.
At this point i think you'll see an open source release of Torsion before a Mac version.

We currently have no plans to work on Torsion for Mac.Developing for Mac is hell... i personally have an extreme distaste for it. Further the market for Torsion on a Mac is vocal, but small... it will not pay for the cost of development.

At the moment, I have been using a large amount of echo statements when debugging on the mac-side. It's not as nice as Torsion debugging, but it gets the job done.

Maybe for you it´s nothing but for me it´s like a dream.
i buy WinOnX (http://winonx.com/), and install torsion run aquarium demo and work great.
I can now debug, and look to errors. Something a can´t do in Xcode or maybe i don´t now how.
I work on a mac, never see torsion on windows in action.
Only wan´t to share my happiness.

Well, if Sickhead won't give us Torsion for Mac, it'd be nice if GarageGames would give us an alternative on their own.

We currently have no plans to offer an alternative solution.
