Original License = No More Torque for Me?

by James · in Torque Game Engine · 03/06/2007 (11:17 am) · 22 replies

I bought the original license in 2001 for $100. Today I tried to download 1.5 (after being away for about 6 months ) and all I have access to are the TGE Demos. Did they up and kill off all the old school early adopters?

I disagree that the new license model (which I am assuming is the change to pay-for-prominent-upgrades rather than the actual license change between 1.2 and 1.3--or 1.3 to 1.4...I can't remember) is messed up in comparison to the old model simply because it is financially inconvenient. I would rather TGE continue to advance rather than pitter out like many other engines that have been priced in the same arena. I doubt that GG is making a bundle on TGE. Rather, they are ensuring a wage to maintain it.

The topic got reactionary and is perpetually moving into continual negative reaction.

Agreed, David. This thread has fallen victim to the Internet Forum Trend. I truly do understand your point about GG needing to have a steady income, so I will edit my comment to "The new license model is messed up for the end user." :) I will say, however, that with all these exta tidbits (content packs, upgrades, etc.) this site has become a lot more commercial and a lot less Community.

Now, if the admins will kindly lock this thread before more e-peens need the blue pill...
