Hi again :-).

Here is a test with computer number 3. The test is made with "TGE Ver.1.5 Demo" on a special selected location for comparing test.

Computer specifications:
CPU Pentium 4, 3 GHz. RAM: 2048 Mb. GeForce 6200, screen size under test: 1280x1024.
The computer has both Vista and XP install with "startup choice".

On the same "test location" in Torque Demo:
Vista 23 FPS, XP 80 FPS !! That's my problem...

The reason to the missing light compiling in the first test, is maybe we use the "Day / Night option" ??

@ Kevin.. Yes let us give it some time and see what happen :-).

@ Badguy, @ Blake Lowry..
Maybe I'm a little "stupid".. :-D but I can't see the funny things in this case ?

Sorensen Denmark :-).

Jan, part of the issue is just video drivers. ;) Drivers for Windows are optimized very well right now for DX9, for instance. Drivers for Vista are not optimized at all - they're pretty 'neutral'.

Some folks over at the Realmcrafter forums did some tests a while back on Vista vs Windows. We found, oddly enough, that Vista ran RC with slightly HIGHER framerates than WinXP did - that's because RC is a DX7 based game, and in the process of optimizing for DX9, the WinXP video drivers deoptimized DX7.

The version neutral Vista drivers were much worse at rendering in DX9 than the optimized WinXP though; that's one reason people are seeing lower framerates on pretty much ALL DX9 games they are running under Vista. As the newer and better drivers come out, we should see some of that fade. As we see patches to shore up the "Public Vista Beta" we're in right now (heh) a lot of the other issues will go away too.

Why... Why Apple isn't releasing standalone mac os X releases for PC :/
I would take that instead of vista...

Apple is using the popularity of the OS X to sell (slightly overpriced) hardware. They don't want to give the profits of the hardware to anyone else.

Look at what happened with the Apple mac clones some years ago.

@Jan: I was being sarcastic really... Badguy said something about "you people have fun with your serious Vista gaming rig".. and then he said something about the thread "turning into a Linux sux thread" and "its good for comedy"... So I just put his to posts together and said "I laugh at the people with serious Linux gaming rigs" :P

Windows Vista / ATI Update
Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 at 2:24 PM PDT by: Steve Linden
As some residents have discovered, Second Life will not run on Windows Vista with ATI video cards. We tracked this down to a bug in the ATI OpenGL drivers, and have just confirmed that this issue is fixed in ATI's Catalyst 7.3 drivers for which are still in development. ATI hopes to have these available by the end of the month. Thank you for your patience.

-Steve
