I realize that the answer is probably in many other threads but i need it in plain english. Is it something like 1024x1024 or can you base a map on any heightmap [png] that is square and divisible by 2. I am a completely lost n0ob. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

There is no plain english answer to this question.

Rather than copy/pasting them, i'm gonna be one of those guys that tells you to look at the other 20 posts on this subject.

Simple answer to the last part of your question though, No.

The largest stock torque terrain size is 1024 torquemetres by 1024 torquemetres. Actually it might be 2048 x 2048, its been a while since i tinkered with it. I think there are some tricks to make this marginally bigger, like lowering the resolution of the terrain but this removes alot of the terrains detail.

The terrain repeats, but your asset placement doesnt so you can have repeating terrain but place different assets around different repetitions giving the impression of unique areas.

For open plan terrain you ideally need something like Atlas terrain in TGEA.

Thanks for your response! I guess I should have saved some money for the 14th and upgraded to TGEA [my payday was on the 15th and I would have had to borrow a credit-card]. Thanks again! I guess, I can stop working on really large-scale heightmaps for a while. Have a great night!
