Maybe it is a leak. Like Source or the Doom source.

What, I need a NeXT box to compile and have no assets? Fiddlesticks!

@David Blake
Wow...I haven't heard "fiddlesticks" in a while... :)

The Doom source that was leaked was for the id NeXT box. And there were no assets available. It was cool for alt.graphics.algorithms to point to the renderer optimizations on the million topics about "how duz d00m d0 it?" But most people really wished that those posters would go away so that they could discuss algorithms for water drop splatters instead of answering inane questions on bsp traversal.

If you Google Doom leak, you will find that before Doom was released, the source code was leaked. Unfortunately for the many, many BBS and #usenet savvy people who got ahold of it, they did not have any assets or access to NeXT Step boxes to compile the code on (and most often had little to no knowledge of portability to make the code work on something they could compile with).

It really doesn't matter. A better thought would be the Half-Life 2 source leak that had chunks missing (some of the third-party stuff was not in the project directory that leaked) and no assets.

If all you want is to play with UED3's game editor, go buy the game roboblitz for 14.95 from roboblitz.com. I did and must say it's awesome. Also unreal is the best fps of all time. :P
