Well...should I do it?

Hey,

I've been using Game Maker for about 3 years now, and I want to get into 3D programming. I also want to get a programming language for Mac. (Obviously, I can't use GM anymore) So, would Torque be moderately easy to pick up for a GM user, and is it worth the plunge in $$$? I have a great game idea that I was going to do in 2D, but 3D would make it 100x better.

I suggest you download the TGE 1.5 demo to give it a try to see what you can do, as the scripts are included so you can modify them and also create missions etc with the in-game editors.

Only thing you can't do is change the source (C++) and release your game.

I have been using GM for about 7 years. Torque is different I would play with the demo to see if you like it.

...It looks like all the demo is is a feature walkthrough. What'm I supposed to do with that?

You can edit the scripts located in the folders of the executable. All scripts are titled with .cs. Compiled scripts are .cs.dso, and mission files are .mis.

In main.cs, change the starting game from demo to starter.fps or starter.racing or tutorial.base.
