MMORPG team construction...

by Josh Eckhardt · in Jobs · 02/04/2007 (7:47 pm) · 11 replies

Update: Go here and make use of your abilities.

OLD:

What positions are available:

3D Artist/Animator
2D Artist
Sound and Music Designer

Of course these can be split up or condensed as much as possible.

Formalities over...

We can do the remainder of the game. If you are a programmer and are interested in helping the game, I could be convinced. :-)

This is not new, it's been under development for a little under a year. Now, we absolutely need these positions to continue very far.

Type/Era: Medieval
Art: As realistic as possible, without slowing down computers

Pay: None is guaranteed. If the opportunity appears, then yes, there will be pay. If not, you won't be disappointed (hopefully).

Required time: No required time limit. Work whenever you get the chance. This is an indie game, there's no need to kill yourselves to get done on time.

Location: You do not need to be on site. Work from wherever, you don't need to be near to be a part of the team.

As of right now, there are no others in these positions, so first come, first serve.

Yes, a lot of work's been done already. BUT, if you have an absolutely brilliant idea, mention it, by all means.

I can't hope to fit the full thing onto a forum post, so once you decide (if) to join, I'll get you started on the concept.

The offer will never fully be closed. If you just saw this post, and thought, "Man, I wish I'd seen this earlier", the offer is still open. Just email me and I'll get you started.

I want to stress again that this is a casual indie game. You aren't required to do a ton of work. Do only as much as you want to.

If there's any other questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

Anyone is welcome.

I'm interested. I do 2D textures and 3D art, both DIF and DTS.

Thanks!

I would be intressted. But first i would like to know more about the project... got any website i could check out?

What i can bring to the project and my pervious experiense:

I'm a 3D Artist whit about 5 years of experience. 10 months out of those was a internship at D.O.M Games AB. Where I worked on a title called "necrophobia" producing environment objects of all kinds. As well as their shipped title "Battlecards: Cybots" (http://www.battle-cards.com/).
I have always keept to low poly modeling whit PC games in mind.
For the past 2 years I have been playing whit Torque on my free time. Not really whit anything special in mind. Didn't get very far though, since I'm not a coder.
Now... I lost most of my old work in a HDD crash a while ago, but some of my work can be seen on my web site (don't forget the forum).

What I'm "good" at:
Low poly modeling
HTML production and editing
Graphic production for web pages (somewhat)
UV mapping
Texture Editing
Game Design

My weak sides:
C++ coding
Texture production (from scratch)
Organic modeling
Writing

Owned licenses:
TGE (1.42 & 1.5) & TGEA 1.0
ShowTool Pro
3Ds Max 8 & 9 (subscription)
Autodesk Combustion 4 (similar to Adobe After effects)
Photoshop CS2
Bryce 5
Macromedia Studio 8 (Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, Contribute 3 and FlashPaper)
Cartography shop 4
Torque Pipeline
QSetup Installation Suite (Installshield

Actually, the site is currently under construction. It hasn't been too much of a priority so far, though I'm starting to dedicate more time to it. However, I'll condense everything about it into one document and put it up on the game website server (still somewhat empty now). I'll give you a link once it's finished.

Anyway, thanks for offering. I like the experience list; looks great!

Hi Josh,

Would you consider a merger? Our group has what you're looking for but lacks the programming/scripting end.
beautifulpeoplesclub.net/Neophagia/

I don't know your project, but perhaps we have similar goals? We currently have about 13-14 active members working right now. You can e-mail me if this sounds like it might interest you.

Sorry I've been so long. I had just posted my response when the schedule caught up and dragged me off. I've been extremely busy and have had barely any time to program. But, it's calmed down a bit, so I should have more time.

@Mikael:

Again, I've been busy. I never got a chance to ask you what specifics you wanted. Could you either send me an email with specifics, or just post that? I've got some of it done, but I ran into a wall.

@Jason:

I might be interested in this. I will try to get an email off ASAP. If I fail, go ahead and send me one, and I'll get back with you.

Thanks all.

Exactly how much of your game is finished?

I'd be willing to help with sounds and music. You can check out my website:

www.soundclick.com/djstoltz

If there's anything you like there or you want me to create some original music for the game (which will probably be the case since it's medieval era), just let me know in an e-mail: djstoltzrecords@hotmail.com

Even though I said:

The offer will never fully be closed.

Something has occurred which I did not foresee. So, it's temporarily closed. It may be opened in the future, or I may redirect you, but until further notice it is closed. Hopefully I'll have an update soon.

Thanks.

Update!

I now point all current potential takers and future ones to this thread. We merged with them, so put in your talents there.

Thank you!
