A couple Total Rookie Questions

I am trying to figure out why we even have Valves Editor? And how to get started here, even after reading several times, I am not getting it...Do I have to compile something in MSVC++ first, or are we supposed to work off of the Realm Wars Demo..Now, remember, I did try to figure it out myself..Any hints tips etc, would be super appreciated..Thanks!

In other words...How do I create a map?..3DMAX? Does torque have a map editor other than whats on realm wars?

Objects that you place in the world are created in a 3D Program such as 3dsmax4.

There is an in-game editor (F11) for modifying the landscape. An editor, like world craft, is needed when creating indoor portions.Objects that you place in the world are created in a 3D Program such as 3dsmax4.

So, am I to use the Realm Wars to start and hit (F11)? Or how do I get the Editor open? Thanks BTW!

And when I open WorldCraft, it seems to be looking for an existing halflife game..Also, if the Torque Engine does not recognize .wad files, I would need to convert them? I am sorry for asking such elementary questions, I can usually figure things out on my own, but this one has me by the nutsack! BTW, I have 3DMAX, still trying to figure out why my Bounding Box isn't working, but that's not my important question...

Start RealmWars, start a map, and when the map is loaded and running hit F-11.

From that point, you can create a new terrain and assemble a mission (map) from existing buildings, etc. If you want to create your own custom buildings, you need to use WorldCraft to do so. That is a deeper topic...

Hi Tim and thanks! Couldn't I do the buildings in 3D Studio Max, and import them, instead of using worldcraft?

Could I also import entities, like vehicles etc, and alter script?. Once again I thank you guys a ton! Also, does it(realm wars) contain all the source code as if I compiled it?
