Quote:Vaporware is a bit of an overused term for a game that will never release or is woefully incomplete, but it also implies the fact that the developers know that as well. When I say 'released' I mean completed to a degree that is completely playable and has all the advertised features and is free of game-breaking bugs. Using that definition there are more than a handful of titles that were 'released' (as in 'took people's money') that would fall under this category. Generally, this term is not applied to MMOs developed by large companies and is basically attached to any game that tries to create undue hype without providing any real information or game play videos.

I think we're discussing how much the article's author comes off sounding like a pompous ass rather than achieving something useful with the article.Just a guess though.

How dare he call Mount&Blade Vaporware! The author of this article comes off like an idiot, it seems he doesn't even know what Vaporware is!
Quote:There are three main classifications, or levels, of Vaporware each with their own particulars that set it apart from the others. Most games that are considered vaporware fall into one of these broad groups and most of them will move up or down the list as time goes on.There aren't three tiers of Vaporware that games get upgraded through, this isn't the regional soccer championship. Why am I even arguing it?

He's also acting as if he's "in the know" about things that he's flat out wrong about, and if he is "in the industry", probably shot himself in the foot.
Vash, I know why you think it was "interesting", and it was pretty unprofessional of you to try to sneak it in here as a bash when you know we asked you to stop, but I'm not going to mod the post because offreedom of speech for the win and all that good stuff.
If this were in print, it would be called "yellow journalism", and it's possible he'd be sued by multiple parties. Since most of his targets were indies, he's pretty safe, but nice of him to kick those that may (or may not be) be down.
