Recording TGB to Movie File

I'm planning to make a documentary in TGB. I need to record at most 30 minutes of a show that is going to be played in TGB. Then I will need to burn the recording onto a DVD. I have seen some videos in the Show Off! forum that demonstrate the recording aspect. I'll post them here when I get the links.

I believe they were all compiled using something like GameCam or Fraps or Bullents Screen Recorder. There is no export to movie functionality built into TGB.

I second FRAPS

I like Bullents for specific window and process targeting, but Fraps and GameCam are great for full-screen captures.

Kevin, I'm pretty sure I used the free version of Fraps. It was limited to 30 second clips..

Steve,
Yeah, I read that there was a limit for FRAPS, so I'm going to try out GameCam. (I think it's completely free, could be wrong, lol.) I need to download the latest Windows Media Codecs though . . .

The full version of GameCam is $25.

There is also Camtasia, which provides some basic video editing tools and will register mouseclicks with effects and allow you to add narration and display text bubbles in the video. While it's not free or cheap its quite handy for quickly churning out complex video tutorials.

Thanks for the info, Simon and David.

CamStasia is more expensive than most. I completely space VirtualDub. It's a nice open-source package.

Thanks for recommending VirtualDub, I'll test it out and report the results. If VirtualDub doesn't work out for me, I may buy FRAPS or GameCam.

Is VirtualDub the only program that requires new hardware, or does every capture program need one?

Nope. GameCam, Bullents, and Fraps do not require adding new hardware. I don't believe any of the other ones I've played with do, either.
