Installation Problem

by Brian Benton · in Torque Game Engine · 01/14/2007 (9:43 am) · 3 replies

Hi everybody. I just got the book, I'm ready to go, but I'm having a problem installing from the CD. I insert the CD, get the normal Windows selection menu, and I pick the view folders. It can't find a setup.exe and neither can I. I've cut and pasted everything from the CD, put it in its own folder on C: and still I can't get a proper installation. I even made everything not read-only.

The .swf file only gives me a flash introduction to look at the files (which I can do with explorer). The book says to follow the instructions that come up, but of course, no such instructions are there. I can run the torque demo, but I don't really care about the demo, I want to install the engine.

Any help is most appreciated!

There is no main "setup.exe". All you need to do is copy the 3D2E folder where you want it. Now, if you want to set up Milkshape 3d or some of the other tools the you need to go to the "TOOLS" folder -> open up the milkshape3d folder -> unzip "ms3d179.zip" -> then run the "setup.exe".

Also, the Torque demo IS the engine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I forgot to update my thread stating that I had figured that very thing out. Hopefully, this thread will help others having the same confusion as I did.

What really threw me off is the main screen for the engine. I thought it was only the demos! Anyway, thanks again.

Sure, no problem. That threw me off as well about a year ago when I downloaded the demo. Enjoy and good luck!
