New To My Mac... interesting performance

I got my first Macbook (2 Gig processor, 1 Gig RAM).
Compared to my HP laptop (1.7 Gig processor, 512 MB RAM).
The Macbook destroys the HP on TGB performance (a blank test project will run @ 500+ FPS compared to around 200 for the HP).
However, TGE 1.5 is harsh on the Mac (save me TGWii!). The Mac runs about 15-20 fps slower on all screens (except the water map section on the demo, it actually exceeded the HP's performance). So, that's around 35-40 fps on average... but when buildings, multiple players, or intereriors are present it'll drop down between 16-25 fps. Harsh.
Rob Terrel's TGWii 1.5 demo ran between 8 and 16 fps in action. Ouch!!!
I've yet to compare TGE 1.4 between the two laptops.
Being new to Mac, are there any suggestions you may have to increase my Macbook's performance?
The colors aren't as vibrant on the Mac, either... they're brighter, but a bit whitewashed. They're missing a lot of the reds and greens that are apparent in the HP laptop.
Both laptops were running 800x600.

Does your HP laptop have a 3d card in it? Your Macbook "only" has the onboard graphics like my Mac Mini, but that one usually is fast enough to run Torque very smoothly. Well, it runs smooth on my Mini. :-)P.S. Congrats to the Macbook (white or black?) :-)

That's is kind of vague. You only mentioned CPU and RAM, which is not that important as far as your FPS is concerned. A 1Ghz/512MB system with a recent GPU can outperform a 3.4Ghz/1024MB system with an older GPU any day.

@Gary: That was what I meant :-) No dedicated graphics, but nevertheless blazing fast ;-)
