Tips on making sprites

I found this site the other day on making traditional pixel sprites, thought I'd share it.

It seems the ONLY way of getting an 'AUTHENTIC' arcade look is going the pixel by pixel route. Even though today we have better hardware and have a lot more freedom without having to worry about wasting pixels for the sake of performance...

Nice! Rather than chaps, he kinda looks like he's wearing a diaper. I think it is because it is only the front and his groin is the only part of the color continuity there.

Maybe I'm old school, but I really like the tradition looking sprites. Though I feel in today's games they just won't cut it... I mean my desktop resolution is 1920 X 1200 Wide!! When I run Mame or even do some old school art for use with TGB... It completely looks like CRAP!! I suppose since my brain has always been used to old school 2d games... the more modern methods (rendered as frames from 3d programs) just looks plain wrong!!
