Road/street/track Help?

So I am having a hard time figuring out how to make a road/street/track. I have made a couple in .dts format and they work great however when I try to make the track spiral upwords my collision detection goes away. I have been told that I should build my tracks in .dif format however I am using 3ds max and I heard that is not the best tool to use for .difs. Can I export from 3ds max to another program and kick out a .dif. I have a specific track design I would like to stick to however I think starting off with a simple track would be best.

Is there any way to import a whole track and no just pieces?

Quark is your best option for roads/tracks/loops, You can import the whole track from quark if its not too big, if it is too big just break it up, its not hard to line it up in torque.
