Dts invisable inside buildings

Hey all .
So here is my problem.
I have a Chest.dts object from an artist.
I want it to appear inside the tower that ships with the source.
I have lights inside the tower so its not pitch black.
What do I have to do to make my dts visable inside and interior. I have a group of lights in the tower called chest_lights. I have those down as the lightGroupName in the world inspector pannel for the object.
I have tried all the combos of lighting options there to try and make it visable.
So I am thinking that it has more to do with the dts file than my lighting situation?
I tried the same set up using the default logoitem.
If at all possible an explanation would be great. an example file would be wicked. as well ( so my artsit can see whats got to go on as well. we are working with maya )
Thank you for your time
Jennie

If the logo item looks correct, it could be the dts - make sure the object's material is not 2 sided or self-illuminating.
Also make sure the lights are set to Affect DTS Objects in the Light Editor.
