A) You can modify a post so you don't have to post twice...

B) use whatever to make a link

as in:

I cannot say that I have ever seen or heard of this error occuring before and I have exported a hell of a lot of DTS files for projects that I work on and for other people.

What version of 3DS Max are you running? You should be running 3.1, 4.02 or 4.2x if you are not then you should update immediately. Are you sure that the DLE was compiled correctly? Have you tried a DLE that someone else uses that works fine for them? Are you running NT 4, Win2k, or WinXP Pro? Are you running the latest updates? Is your HDD fragmented? Have you tried running one of those RAM testing programs (found at places like mushkin.com) to see if you have bad OEM RAM installed?

Hmm well that is all that I can think of for now... also please be patient when waiting for a response, the help that you seek is volunteered.

Are you sing a .cfg file? If so, open it and see if it has the t2 autodetail line in there. If it does, try it again with that line commented out.

I haven't seen to many of this type of error. Does it work fine without the SORT::?

Does the shape in question have the multires modifier on it?

Is it using a .cfg file? (check the dump file to see)

It would be helpful to know where in the export process the crash happens. Check your dump file and post here the last few lines that are in the filw.

it crashes so soon taht it doesnt even write any thing to the dmp file, its blank...
and no the model doesnt have multires its just a bunch of polys placed to put alpha mapped leafs texture on
im not doing any thing specal with the model, theres no wierd animation divices on it or any thing, its just static... tahts why i cant figure out wtf its doing this

I have exactly the same error! :-(
So it's not just your comp.

Try this:

www.joemaruschak.com/max2dtsExporter.zip

and see if that helps (zip contains working build of the exporter for Max 4)
