Vista Problem w/ TGE and/or ShowTool Pro?

by Nathaniel Plane · in Torque Game Engine · 12/05/2006 (4:43 pm) · 6 replies

Hey fellas,

After installing Vista RTM ShowToolPro fails to load. Instead, the screen will flash a few times and eventually toss up a dialog "Unable to Allocate Virtual Memory". I'm assuming this is a video driver issue (7800 GTX GO) since Nvidia hasn't released an RTM Vista driver yet. I was just wondering if anyone else had any luck w/ the product on Vista, or more specifically, Vista w/ a 7800 GTX GO?

Thanks in advance!

I'm having exactly the same problem, although I have an ATI X800 PciExpress card so I doubt it's anything specific with NVidia drivers.

Do you also have problems running other Torque based programs, the stuff i'm running works but I get a lot of OpenGL errors and performance is way below what i'd expect.

I can get the tools to load, but just w/ d3d support and at minimum windowed displayed w/ terrible performance (no full screen, no other res, no other rendering). It's basically unusable. It is (in my case at least) just lack of an official nvidia driver. I knew in my gut this was the case, but i figured i'd at least test the waters here =) Hopefully by retail release nvidia will throw us RTM folk a bone.

However, in your case, you may be able to just goto ati's website and download the latest vista driver. It looks like they have RTM support already.

Good luck =)

I already have the ATI RTM driver and it's really still not particularly pleasant to use but from looking at ATI's site it seems they released a new version just the other day, i'll be trying that tonight and will post here if I get good (or bad) results.

Downloaded and tried the newest ATI drivers, reverted back to theold ones within 20 minutes of horrific screen flickering pain. They worked fine with a single monitor but as soon as I tried to etend my desktop everything crapped out. I never got a chance to test Torque with the drivers.
