A few questions from a noob

Hi All,
I've got the books, the Indie Torque Engine @ version 1.5, quite a few demo apps (like Milkshape, QuArk etc) and Blender, Terragen. I've also paid up for the years subscription to Arteria and downloaded most of the material available there ...
I've also completed several tutorials from the books and from online sources ...
But ...
Q1: How do I rotate objects in the Mac OS X version, i.e in the World Creator? The CTRL and ALT keys don't seem to work the same way as they do in the Windoze version.
(If you are wondering why I'm using the Mac version, my Windoze version keeps crashing when I relight the mission!)
Q2: What do people use to create interiors? The Arteria ones seem to be a little flakey with Torque 1.5 (i.e the relighting problem) and I'd like to try and create my own. This seems to be a real problem for my joint Mac/Windoze development regime as I can't seem to get a toolset that works on both.
Q3: Related to Q2; the tools provided with the engine seem to be Windoze only, is there a Mac version of maptodif for example.
Q4: Could one of the experienced Indies here give me a quick guide of how they progress with creating a mission, i.e which steps are best placed first, do you layout the interiors and then build the terrain around them (especially where underground interiors are used, or build the terrain and then attempt to place interiors? Do you do the vegetation last or early on? Is water best placed early or when everything else is in place?
I suppose what I'm after is a reasonably efficient workflow to start from.
Thanks in advance for any answers,
Chris.
