Where to start?

Use the getting started tutorial on the start menu. It will get you up and running quickly with the in-game editors.

BTW, some student posted "The begining you rtard". Which I found unintentionally humorous because it was obvious that their schooling was not working since they could neither spell beginning or retard.

Haha, yeah i saw that, I thought it was rather harsh.

At first glance torque seems like a lot, and it is :D

One thing you can do is browse through all the resources (click 'community' up top, then 'resources'). Lots of stuff in there to play with. I like to browse the forums and find stuff that other people are trying to do, find something that interests me and see how they did it or try to do it myself.
