What's The Best Tools For Terrain/Textures?

Hi Everyone,

We're working on a 2048x2048 TSE terrain and are using Freeworld3D to build and texture the terrain. But I was wondering if there is a better terrain editor, such as Leveller, etc, for TSE terrain? The new Atlas engine does not do detail levels at this time so that means it will take several tools to design the terrain. Any suggestions here?

Also, has anyone built a TGE terrain then imported it into TSE?

Thanks,
Mark Barry

I have used freeWorld3d, for use with the atlas terrain, it works OK, although the terrain texture file it creates is not very good, its ok to build your texture over. I scaled the terrain texture that FreeWrold out puts, scaled it up, then painted a higher resolution texture over top. It worked OK.

I can't answer your first questions, but bringing TGE terrain into TSE is easy. It's been a while since I tried it, but If I recall correctly, there are a few features missing from TSE's legacy terrain, like detail texures and the seam blending.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. If you know of the links/tutorials that talk about creating terrain in TGE for TSE I would appreciate it if you could post them. Thanks!
