TSE Questions (Likely Customer)

by Ryan Berkani · in Torque Game Engine · 11/05/2006 (3:20 pm) · 6 replies

Hello,

I have a few questions about TSE;

1) Will it come with documentation? If so, how complete will it be?

2) Will the terrain and GUI editors be the same as those in TGE? If not, how will they be different?

3) Are there specialized content exporters for TSE, or does it use the same ones as TGE?

Thanks,
-Ryan

1, ya.

2, similar, not sure what they're cooking up for the Atlas terrain editor but the GUI, World, and Legacy terrain editors and all that are the same.

3, same, 'cept for interiors, must use the TSE map2dif.

Ok, thanks :).

So I take it docs are pretty complete then?

TSE docs are not complete yet, but they describe TSE's main features and how to use them pretty well.

If you are used to the tge and want to port tge assets over it can be done,
i just bought a tsea license only for the fact that my project will need
large terrains and modern pixel shader support ,post processing etc etc.
the way it looks now,tge has some really great user contributed resourses
and the new build to 1.5 is excellent buy even the demo standards
(i might upgrade the tge 1.4.2 to 1.5 anyway, but tsea is not complete,
and the legacy terrain will not look as good as it does in tge,and youll
still only be able to have a repeating terrain @ tge specs.

however on a good note, tsea now comes as tge does without the cvs
head updates,as a zip and does compile with visual express etc etc.
for me it was the atlas terrain issue (incredibly large terrains)
and of course future modernization,pixel 2/3 normal,bump mapping,specularity.
plus its fun, people are helpful and there is a fps.starter port to integrate
so you may be on common ground.
plus...hehe its still only $150 and possibly wont be very soon.

On the same note as my original post (yet another question): what is the max texture resolution supported in TGEA? Same as TGE or greater?
