My pet project... attack of the crabs

I've been kicking around an idea in my head for a few weeks now. The general concept is this: you play as a relocated crab whose new home is now in danger of being overrun by beach-happy tourists. You, along with the help of your faithful-but-useless oyster sidekick, attempt to reclaim the beach as your own, and run the tourists out of town. The goal is to implement this in a light-hearted, cartoon-like style, and the crab gains new pinch abilities by launching into combos (attack toes, jump to finger, swing up to the ears, wrap around and honk on the nose, etc.).
I've also been brainstorming on ways to "die" in-game, including getting eaten by seagulls, captured by fishermen, run over by vehicles, and my personal favorite, being captured by an Annoying Small Child, and brought home as a pet.
I'm open to any comments or suggestions anyone might have.

Also how about balancing objectives - you have to protect your den (where do crabs live?) and/or the shiny things you have collected there from other crabs as well as protect your perimeter from annoying kids. If you concentrate too much on one objective you can lose points the other way.
I can hardly wait for the sequel Crabs II - Crabs Strike Back!!! where you mass crabs armies into the great crab rebellion and follow the tourists to their home and invade their space for a change. ;)
Fun idea, good luck!

It does fun. How about an opening round where you have to clear your newly acquired patch of beach of litter and/or objects you don't want around and maybe collect the shiny bits you do want. Might be a good training for movement/pinching to carry and manipulate things. It might also up your "ownership" of the area when it is subsequently invaded. Also how about balancing objectives - you have to protect your den (where do crabs live?) and/or the shiny things you have collected there from other crabs as well as protect your perimeter from annoying kids.
